Mr. William “Ernest” Brown, 87, of Siler City, N.C., died Saturday, April 1, 2017. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, April 5, at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett, N.C. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, April 6, at Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Bennett, N.C., with Rev. Don Edwards presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Ernest was born on May 30, 1929 to Clyde Zimria Brown and Daisy Viola Coble. As a young man, he served as a medic in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Campbell during the Korean War. After the war, he became a barber, and hosted a chair at Reid’s Barber Shop for 35 years. He spent his free time fishing, working in his yard, fixing things, and taking road trips to the beach, but he most enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Nettie Ann Brown. He is survived by his daughter Grace Marlette Willett and husband Robert of Raleigh; sister Louise Womble and husband Earl of Siler City; brothers Vernon Brown and wife Bill of Ramseur, Frank Brown and wife Sylvia of Siler City, Richard Brown and wife Anne of Pittsboro, Bobby Brown and wife Sherry of Bennett, Jimmy Brown and wife Pam of Raleigh; grandchildren Candace Rose Willett and Ava Grace Willett, along with a host of family and friends.
