Ruth Powers Phipps, age 80, of Phillips Road in Bennett, passed away at her home on Monday, January 12, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Jack Powers and Payton Riggsbee Powers. She was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Friday, January 16, 2015, at the Fall Creek Baptist Church in Bennett. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:30pm till 1:45pm prior to the service at Fall Creek Baptist Church, and other times at the home.
Mrs. Phipps was a Chatham County native, and was a retired machine operator for Liggett-Meyers Tobacco Company. She was preceded in death by her parents, and Sister Jackie Crawford. She was a loving and giving person, loved the mountains, shopping at thrift stores and yard sales Mrs. Phipps loved flowers, and was an avid bird watcher.
Mrs. Phipps is survived by her husband Billy G. Phipps of the home; Daughters- Wanda O’Neal and husband James of Durham, Martha Phipps of Hillsborough, Elizabeth Foster and husband Jeff of Yanceyville; Sons-William Phipps and wife Edie of Louisburg, and Robert Phipps of Hillsborough; Brother-Joe Powers and wife Ann of Bennett; Sisters-Kay Simpson and husband Albert of Carthage, Joyce Bissette and husband Larry of Durham. Grandchildren-Cynthia (Nikki) O’Neal, Aaron Moran, Jessica Frega, Sarah Alford, Payton Foster; Great Grandchildren- Sebastian and Jasper Alford.
