Roy Moore

Roy Moore, 82, passed away Monday, July 11, 2022 at home with his family. Roy was born in Moore County, NC on January 25, 1940 to Rancie Lee Moore and Nora Scott Moore. In addition to his parents Roy was proceeded in death by his sister, Louise Maness; brothers, Rancie (Bud) Moore Jr, John (Dee) Moore, Marvin Moore, Paul Moore and Howard Moore.

Roy is survived by wife of 57 years, Loretta Allred Moore, sons, Wesley Moore and wife, Tammy and Scottie Moore and wife, DyAnna; daughter, Christina McNeill and husband, Anthony; eight grandchildren: Luke, Collin, Brittany, Tyler, Caitlin, Shae, Allison and Bristol; one great-grandchild, Austin; sisters Wilma Davis, Valleen Maness and Betty Garner and many nieces and nephews.

Roy served in the National Guard and worked at Union Carbide during the 60’s. He then worked at Milliken Mills and farmed for several years. Later, he went to work for the hosiery mill in Troy and then to Star before retiring from Renfo. Roy enjoyed 20 years of retirement, spending time with his grandkids and family. He loved taking road trips, working on cars, carpentry, farming, cooking, learning new things, helping others and the simple things in life. He was truly a man of many skills and talents. He has been a great blessing to us all.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Needham’s Grove Baptist Church with Pastor D.J. Harry officiating. The body will lie in state at the church prior to the service from 12:00 pm-1:45 pm. Joyce-Brady Chapel will be open on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. for friends to sign the register.
