Robert "Bob" Cardwell

Robert Perry Cardwell, 66, of Carthage, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Baptist Hospital. The funeral will be on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at High Falls Wesleyan Church, where he was a member, with Rev. Roger Riffe presiding. Interment will follow the service. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00-1:45 pm. Joyce-Brady Chapel will be open on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 1:00-5:00 pm for friends to sign the register.

Bob was born in Robeson County on September 8, 1956 to Jack and Essie Dawkins Cardwell, who preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and attained the rank of Major. He was a deputy with the Moore County Sheriff’s Department, retiring after 30 years of service. Bob loved music, playing the guitar, open mic nights, scuba diving and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Burma Garner Cardwell, of the home; step-children, Michael Beasley, of Robbins and Mandy Saunders (John), of Lexington, SC; brother, Jack Cardwell (Adriane), of Danbury, NC; step-grandchild, Tate Saunders; mother-in-law, Shelby Hussey, of Bennett; sisters-in law, Karen Garner, of Charleston, SC and Lisa Akers (Tim), of Elon NC; brother-in-law, Eddie Garner (Lynn), of Highfalls and a host of family and friends.
