Rev. Winford Clifton

Rev. Winford Dean Clifton 83, of Booker T. Womble Road in Randleman, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

He was the son of the late Patrick Henry Clifton & Nellie G. Starnes Clifton.  He was preceded in death by his wives Joanne M. Clifton and Mary Belle Clifton. Rev. Clifton was a pastor for over 40 years, serving his ministry at Bethel Friends in Asheboro, South Plainfield in Randleman, High Falls Friends in Bennett, and at a church in Iowa.  He was also Housing Director for Crossroads Retirement Center in Asheboro, and graduate of John Wesley College.

He is survived by his Son-William “Bill” Clifton & wife Judy of Cedar Falls; Sister-Opal McIntyre of Charlotte; Brothers-DJ Clifton & wife Florence of Richmond, Va. and Patrick Clifton & wife Evelyn of Petersburg, VA.; Granddaughter- Stephanie White & husband Danny of King; Great-Grandchildren- Chase and Dylan Owens of King.

A Double Memorial Service will be held with his wife Joanne Merrill Clifton who passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Their service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 11:00 am at Hope Baptist Church, 4875 Old Edgar Rd., Sophia, NC.

Rev. Clifton will then have a Graveside Memorial Service will be held on 4pm Saturday, August 1, 2015 at High Falls Friends Church, 1159 NC Highway 22, in Bennett, NC.

In Lieu of Flowers, the Clifton family asks that Memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
