Recil Gatlin

June 15, 1939 — December 25, 2015

Mr. Recil Ray Gatlin, 76, of Asheboro, N.C died Friday, December 25, 2015 at the Randolph Hospice in Asheboro, N.C.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Bennett, N.C., with Rev. Gerald Hussey officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at Joyce Brady Chapel in Bennett, N.C.

Recil was born in Randolph County, N.C. in 1939, son of the late Frank Fulton Gatlin and Lillie Emma Cox.

He retired from Keyser Roth after many years of service working in the mail room. He enjoyed Nascar Racing and loved Bluegrass music. Recil was known for his kind and gentle nature, always putting others first. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister and in June of this year, his wife of 51 years, Nettie Purvis Gatlin.

He is survived by two sisters, Bessie Deaton and Ruby Kiser both of Seagrove, N.C. as well as one brother, Cecil Clay Gatlin also of Seagrove, N.C., sister-in-law, Esther P.Maness and husband Reese of Bennett, N.C., as well as a host of family and friends, nieces and nephews.

The family requests in addition to flowers, that donations be made to Mt. Zion U.M.C   8616 Curtis Powers Rd.   Bennett, N.C. 27208 or a charity of one’s choice.
