Mitchell Modery

Mitchell Ray Modery, 19, of Bennett, N.C., died Tuesday, December 02, 2014 at his home.

The funeral service will be conducted  Friday, December  5, 2014 at 2p.m., at Bennett Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim Strider officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

The visitation will be held Thursday, December 4, 2014, from 6-8 p.m., at Joyce Brady Chapel in Bennett, N.C. .

Mitchell was born in Greensboro, N.C. in 1995, son of August Raye Binkley and Asa Thomas Modery. He attended Providence Grove High School, East Davidson High School, and Ledford High School, enjoying membership in the ROTC program. During his life Mitchell developed a deep love of all kinds of music and learning to play the guitar, as well as writing songs. He was knowledgeable about many things, as he had a zest for learning. He enjoyed fellowship working with the Bennett Baptist Handymen, assisting them on many projects of helping those in need.  Mitchell was loved and admired by his family and friends, of whom describe him as one not to follow the crowd. He marched to the beat of his own drum . He was a thinker.

Preceding him in death were his brother, Kelly Modery, his Uncle, Christian Lee, Stepfather, Billy Sutphin and Great-grandfather, Ray Jones.

He is survived by his mother August Sutphin of the home, His father, Asa Thomas Modery and wife Andrea of High Point, N.C., Two brothers,  Steven  Sutphin  and Jacob Hinson also of the home.  Two step-brothers, Jeff Barber of High Point, N.C. and Nick Sutphin of Greensboro, one step-sister, Chasie  Sutphin of  Greensboro, Paternal grandparents Lou and Cindy Modery of Gastonia, N.C. and Paula Corgen of Ramseur, N.C., Maternal grandparents, Tom and LouAnn Lee of Sanford, N.C. and Ray and Annette Binkley of Bear Creek, N.C. and his Great-grandmother, Shirley Jones of Bennett, N.C.  and a host of Aunts and Uncles.
