Mrs. Mildred Maness Welch, 93, of Bennett, N.C., died Tuesday evening at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in West End, N.C., surrounded by her family. The family will receive friends Friday, April 28, 2017 at Bennett Baptist Church from 12:00 noon – 1:45p.m. . The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Strider, Rev. Dr. John Williamson and Rev. Edwin Moore presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mildred was born in 1923 in Moore County, N.C., daughter of the late Bertha Florence Maness. She worked as a cutter in textiles as well as being a homemaker. Mildred was a very talented lady, known for making porcelain baby dolls, Christmas ornaments and clothing for her family. Her family was her greatest joy, as she loved cooking delicious meals for them and also spoiling her grandchildren in any way she could find. She was a member of Acorn Ridge Baptist church and an avid reader.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister Coline Cockman, grandson Joey Welch, son-in-law Tommy Hussey and her husband Henry Arvil Welch in 2012.
She is survived by daughters; Judy W. Hussey of Robbins, N.C.; Connie W. Maness and husband Clifton of Bennett, N.C.; son Darrell Welch and wife Kathy of Robbins, N.C. and step-daughter Faye Sutton of Burlington, N.C. and numerous, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
The family wishes to thank the Doctors and Staff of the Reid Heart Center as well as Caregivers Linda Sorrell, Cindy Jones and Dicey Walker for their excellent care and compassion in Mrs. Welch’s time of need.
