Mr. Melvin Edd Perrell, Sr., 69, of Bear Creek, N.C., died Thursday, November 19, 2015 at U.N.C. Hospital in Chapel Hill. The visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday evening (11/21/2015) at Joyce Brady Chapel in Bennett, N.C. . The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon (11/22/2015) at Sandy Branch Baptist Church in Bear Creek, with Rev. Marc Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Melvin was born in Chatham County in 1946, son of the late Elvid Hampton Perrell and Mrs. Pauline Patterson Perrell of Bear Creek. He was a member of Sandy Branch Baptist Church. He worked in highway maintenance with the N.C. D.O.T. until his retirement. Melvin loved coon hunting and enjoyed membership in the Rocky River Coon Hunters Club. He was known for his jovial manner with family and friends and his love for people in general. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother Jerry Perrell.
In addition to his mother Pauline, he is survived by his former wife Louise Perrell, One daughter, Joyce P. Webster and husband Jeff, One son, Melvin Edd Perrell, Jr., One sister, Freda Schinsky and husband John all of whom reside in Bear Creek, N.C. . There are Three grandchildren and Four great-grandchildren and One soon to be born great grandchild.
