Bennett: Melvin Lee Cox 75, of 7976 NC Hwy 22/42, Bennett, NC 27208 passed away Monday October 1, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 2 pm at Pleasant Grove Christian Church where he was a member with Rev. Mark Strickland & Rev. Thurman Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
Mr. Cox was a Randolph Co. native and was a heavy equipment operator, welder, and mechanic.
Mr. Cox is survived by Sons- Melvin Lee Cox, Jr. of Savannah, Ga. & William Mitchell "Mickey" Cox of Asheboro. Daughter- Susan Thomas of Asheboro. Step-Sons- James E. Tyson of Pennsylvania & Jeff Tyson of Asheboro. Step-Daughters- Sandy Surrant, Lisa Hunt, Johnnie Elliott, & Patty Willard all of Asheboro. Sisters- Nancy Kidd of High Falls, Margaret Ann Hayes of Asheboro, Joan McRae of Troy, & Jane Gordon of Bennett. 15 Grandchildren 12 Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday October 2, 2012 from 6-8 pm at Joyce-Brady Chapel, 3833 Chatham St., Bennett, NC 27208 and other times at his home.
