Margaret Caulder Brown, 86, of Bennett, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Chatham Hospital. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Mt. Zion UMC with Rev. Ted Beane presiding. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service. Joyce-Brady Chapel will be open from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022 for friends to sign the register.
Margaret was born in Scotland County on August 10, 1935 to Hattie and Alonzo Caulder. She had attended Mt. Zion UMC for over 60 years. She retired from RamTex after 40 years of service. Margaret loved to sew and make clothes for her children. She enjoyed her “phone friends”. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Byrd; three brothers, A.L., James and Hilburn and son-in-law, Phil Holt.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 68 years, Willie “Russell” Brown, of the home; son, Dennis Brown (Marsha), of Goldston; daughters, Denise B. Holt, of Bear Creek and Tammy B. Elliott (Howard), of Bear Creek; grandchildren, Crystal Elliott, April Perry (Craig), Amy Pilkington (Garrett), Mary Margaret Dark (Ashlin), Matthew Brown (Jessica) and Tyler Holt; great-grandchildren, June Carol Perry, Lilly Dark, Jack Perry, Anna Grace Pilkington, Easton Holt and Bella Dark and a host of family and friends.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Mt. Zion UMC Cemetery Fund, 8616 Curtis Powers Rd., Bennett, NC 27208.
