Linda Faye Carter Brown, 77, of Bennett passed away on March 10, 2021 at Chatham Hospital. The funeral service will be held at Mt. Zion U.M.C. at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021 with Rev. Dr. Russell Brownsworth presiding. Joyce-Brady Chapel will be open on Sunday, March 14, 2021 from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. for those who wish to sign the register. Attendees are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Linda was born in Walker County, Alabama on May 24, 1943 to Robert Lee and Ethel Louise Groves Carter. She was a draw-in technician at Joann Fabrics for more than 30 years. She was a member of Mt. Zion U.M.C. where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, served as secretary-treasurer and was a member of the cleaning committee. She loved Alabama football. Roll Tide! Linda never met a stranger and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Brown.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Brown Croom (Richard), of Delco, NC and Donna Brown Miller (Michael Sanders), of Bennett; sister, Margaret Carter Hanvey (Hiram), of Jasper, AL; brother, Robert Lee Carter, Jr. (Rose), of Lexington Park, MD; grandchildren, Whitney Kujan, Tawny Davis, Carrie Allred and Zachary Miller; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Grayson, Dillon, and Sophia and a host of family and friends.
Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Mt. Zion U.M.C. General Fund, 8616 Curtis Powers Rd., Bennett, NC 27208.
