Mr. Larry Ray Maness, 71, of Robbins, died Friday, September 8, 2017 at his home. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Joyce - Brady Chapel in Bennett, N.C. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Pleasant Hill U.M.C. Cemetery in Robbins, N.C .with Rev. Jason Cheek and Rev. Ralph Voncannon presiding.
Larry was born in Moore County, N.C. in 1946. Son of the late Pearlie Mae Maness and Tonnie Annie Maness. He retired from NCDOT, where he worked in highway maintenance. During his spare time, Larry enjoyed raising game chickens. He loved Country, Bluegrass, and Gospel music. He was a member of Unity Grove Baptist Church and visited many other churches performing recitations, sharing his strong faith in God. Larry loved people, having never met a stranger, and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by 3 sisters, Virginia M. Brady of Asheboro, Betty M. Davis and husband Ernest of Asheboro, Linda M. Maness of Robbins. 2 brothers, Fred J. Maness and wife Frances of Graham and Ronnie R. Maness of Robbins, and a host of family and friends.
