Mr. Kenneth Leroy Kester, 68, of 6757 Clipwood Road, Bennett, NC passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Veterans Hospital in Durham, NC. Mr. Kester was retired truck driver with Chief Express in Seagrove, NC. He loved to hunt, fish, cut wood, and was also an avid Nascar fan. He attended Pleasant Grove Christian Church, and was a US Army veteran, serving two tours in the Vietnam War.
Mr. Kester was preceded in death by his parents, as well as sisters, Violet Holms, Virginia Hardesty, and grandson, Jonathan Morrison.
He is survived by his wife-Phyllis Donahue Kester of the home; Sons-Dwayne Daggett & wife Jennifer of Belpre, Ohio, Ron Daggett & wife Jenny of Marietta, Ohio, Todd Kabella & wife Joy of Omaha, Nebraska, Michael Kabella of California. Brothers-Dick Kester of Custer, South Dakota, Wayne Kester of Rapid City, South Dakota, Tom Kester of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, Bob Kester of Custer, South Dakota, Bill Kester of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, Raymond Kester of Rapid City, South Dakota, Joe Kester of Colestrip, Montana, Gary Kester of Edgemont, South Dakota. Sisters-Delores Waddington of Lead, South Dakota, Dorothy Dean of Pringle, South Dakota, Donna Stratton of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Norma Skinner of Brent, Alabama, Mary Parker of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Marilyn Akkerman of Hamet, California. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Megan Morrison and many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, June 6, 2014, 6-8pm at Joyce-Brady Chapel, 3833 Chatham Street, Bennett, NC, and other times at the home.
