John Price

Mr. John Alden “Jackie” Price, 88, of Robbins, N.C., died Sunday, December 4, 2016 at FirstHealth Hospice in Pinehurst, N.C. . The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Joyce – Brady Chapel in Bennett, N.C. and at other times at the home of Mr. Price.  The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, at Pine Mountain Church in Bennett, N.C., with Rev. Robert Lee Kidd and Rev. Tim Strider presiding. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.

Jackie was born in Guilford County, N.C. in 1928, son of the late Rev. Joseph Andrew Price and India Thornburg Price. He was a Life Member of Pine Mountain Church, which was started by his father. He was a Master Mechanic and worked maintaining the feed mill, eventually retiring from Townsend after 40 years of service. He loved to restore antique cars and tractors. His passion for fishing never wavered, as he and his family enjoyed many trips to the beach shrimping and fishing. He and Ruby loved going to the Nascar Races and pulling for the Fords.

Jackie loved his church and serving the Lord, as well as watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow in their life and their faith. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Farroll and Herbert Lee Price, as well as his wife of 65 years, Ruby Booth Price in 2013.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda P. Russell and husband Jimmy of Robbins, N.C., Three grandchildren, Jonathan Russell and wife Julia of Robbins, N.C.; Rebecca Garner and husband Steven also of Robbins, N.C. and Jenny Comer and husband Worth of Bennett, N.C.; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Duane Price of Texas and a host of family and friends.
