Mr. John Elbert Inman, 78, of Bear Creek passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020 at his home. The family will receive friends Friday, March 6, 2020 from 6 -8 p.m. at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett. The funeral service will be held at 2:00p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Beulah Baptist Church in Bennett with Dr. Neal Jackson and Dr. Curtis Barbery presiding. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by The Randolph County Honor Guard.
John was born in Moore County, N.C. in 1941, son of the late Elbert Inman and Mary Ruby Lawhorn Inman. He proudly served his country in the United States Army’s 82 nd Airborne Division, D Co., 504 Parachute Infantry. Upon completion of his service he became a truck driver, working for various companies before entering a long tenure of service with Wilson Brother’s Trucking. He served them faithfully until his retirement. Outside of work John enjoyed his church, meals with family and friends, old western movies and coon hunting. He adored his grandchildren and spending time with them brought him much joy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Wanda Faye Wright and one brother, Bobby Ray Inman.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jackie Bryant Inman of the home; daughters, Cheryl Elaine Smith(Charles) of Goldston and Jackie Michele Inman(Ritchie Phillips) of Bennett; one sister, Judy Anderson(James) of Bennett; two brothers, Paul Inman(Janice) of Bonlee and Lee Inman of Sanford; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
