John Gilliland

John Monroe Gilliland 55, of Bennett, N.C. died peacefully holding hands with his wife on Sunday, December 23, 2018 after his battle with leukemia, and is now living in his Heavenly home. A service will be held at 1:00 on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Bennett Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Strider  and Rev. Nathan King presiding. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the narthex and at other times at the home of Stephen and Carrie Pritchard of Bennett.

He was born in Chatham County on February 22,1963 the son of Russell and Arlene Gilliland. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, Clemson football, and playing with his grandchildren. He especially loved his family and his fur babies.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include wife of 23 years, Rebecca Gilliland of the home; children, Carrie Pritchard and Stephen of Bennett, Tammy Blackstock and Jason of Jamestown, grandchildren, Antonio McClain, Christian Williams, Darius Blackstock and Cayden Blackstock; siblings Russell Gilliland Jr of Bennett, Jolene Frye of Mary Esther, Florida and Lela Gilliland of Asheboro; and a host of family and friends.
