Jerry Wayne Ivey, 78, of Carthage, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at his home. He was born in Bladen County on July 21, 1943 to Darius and Minnie Elizabeth Bordeaux Ivey. He was U.S. Navy Veteran (Vietnam) and served on the USS Enterprise. He was a retired mechanic at Shamrock, where he worked for 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jo (“Sue”) Ivey and two brothers.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Dana Trent (David), of Asheboro; step-sons, Mike Teague, of NC, Bobby Tucker (Rachell), of Siler City, and Terry Phillips (Bonnie), of Asheboro; sisters, Bonnie Ivey, of Elizabethtown, Nancy Smith, of Climax, and Sally Milczakowski (Thomas), of Elizabethtown;14 step-grandchildren, 8 great step-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
The family will hold a memorial gathering at a later date.
