Mr. Jerald G. Mohagen, 84, of Stanley, N.C., died Monday, April 18, 2016 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church in Carthhage, with Rev. Dr. Bill Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Full Military Honors provided by The Randolph County Honor Guard.
The family will recieve friends from 1:00 - 2:00p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Jerald was born in Grafton, N.D. in 1932, son of the late Irving A. Mohagen and Synneva Gunderson. Early in his life he spent several years in the Merchant Marines prior to serving in the U.S. Army Airborne. He was known for his love of people and being able to talk with anyone, which led to a succesful career in retail sales. He was an avid sports fan and leaves a host of friends to cherish his memory. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wesley K. Mohagen, one sister, Gail E. Sutton and his wife of 59 years, Mary Mohagen in 2013.
He is survived by one son, Franklin H. Lackey and wife Sue of Stanley, N.C. and one daughter, Scarlett L. Chanter and husband Trey also of Stanley, N.C., Two sisters, Roberta M. Kooy and husband Mel of Loveland, Colorado and Linda Jane Mohagen of Quincy, California and one brother, Thomas I. Mohagen and wife Anne of Yakima, Washington. Seven grandchildren, Ten Great-grandchildren and Two Great, Great-grandchildren, Eight nephews and One niece.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN. 38105 .
