Iris Jones

Iris Garner Jones, 82, of Bennett, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Universal Health Care in Ramseur. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Dr. Russell Brownworth and Rev. Ed Carter presiding. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30-1:45.

Iris was born on February 28, 1936 to Carlie and Clara Yow Garner. She was a homemaker and member of Mt. Zion UMC, where she sang and played the piano and organ. She was a devout Christian who loved the Lord. She will be remembered for her humble, forgiving spirit and her card ministry. Iris loved her family and especially adored her grandsons.

In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Eli Swanson Jones; sister, Lucy Burns; brothers, Joe, Welton, Lowell, and Boyce Garner.

She is survived by: sons, Steve and wife, Cindy Tysinger Jones and Randy and wife Christina, all of Bennett; grandsons, Wesley Jones and Jacob Jones, several nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.

The family would like to thank Michelle Scheuering, Sandra Bogans, JoAnne Jarrell, Jan Williamson, Gloria Josey, Elizabeth Myers, Betty Lester and all of the CNAs of Universal Health Care and Hospice of Randolph County for the love and attention shown to their Mother.

The family is receiving friends at both sons’ homes.
