On Monday, July 18 Gladys Lee Brady Holt went home to rest in the arms of our Heavenly Father. She was surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, July 17 in celebration of her 88th birthday. Gladys Lee Brady was the daughter of Clacy Elvis and Lila Wright Brady, the oldest of eight beautiful daughters. Gladys loved her family and friends, she was supportive, loving and generous. She was a proud member of The Order of the Eastern Star, and loved the Lord with all of her heart, soul, strength, and mind.
She married Jack Allen Holt of Durham, NC on November 2, 1946 and they made their home in Durham with their children Ralph Archie Smith and Jacklyn Kay Holt.
She is survived by three of her sisters Peggy Joyce Brady Davis, Judy Forrest Brady Morris, Patricia Sue Brady Church; her son, Ralph and his wife Frances Gertrude Journigan of Louisburg, NC; her five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren include Morris Allen Smith and wife Teresa of Youngsville, NC, Bradley Dean Smith and wife Patricia of Zebulon, NC, Melissa Lee Smith Edwards and husband James of Louisburg, NC, Candice Anita Globuschutz Johnston and husband Joseph of Wilmington, NC, and Marcus Allen Globuschutz and wife Amanda of Siler City, NC. Her great-grandchildren include Lee Tyler Smith, Tori Abigail Smith, Lolly Brady Johnston, James Henry Holt Johnston, Bailey Thompson Johnston, Madison Lynn Globuschutz, Jaxon Allen Globuschutz, Alexander Thomas Globuschutz, and Jayce Paul Globuschutz.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Allen Holt of Durham, NC; her daughter, Jacklyn Kay Holt Shoffner of Liberty, NC; her great granddaughter Shaye Amaris Smith; her parents, Clacy Elvis and Lila Wright Brady of High Falls, NC, and her sisters, Mozelle Marie Brady Lloyd, Gertrude Mae Brady Gower, Wilma Frances Brady Chung, and Alice Kathleen Brady Williams.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22 and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home in Bennett, NC. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gladys' life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Burial will immediately follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery 1310 Ennis Street Salisbury, N.C. .
