George Blalock

Mr. George Curtis Blalock, 86, of Siler City, N.C., died Friday, April 6, 2018 at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, N.C. . A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Sandy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mark Sanders presiding. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall and at other times at the home of Steven and Carrie Pritchard of Bennett.

George was born in Chatham County, N.C. on March 31, 1932, son of the late George Dewey Blalock and Mary Kate Straughn Blalock. George retired after many years of dedicated service with Boling Chair Company. He loved the old western movies and participated in a traveling Old West Show. He had a supporting actor role in the western film “Cowboy Trails”. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Annie Ruth Blalock, a daughter, Susan Dianne Blalock and one sister, Frances Oldham.

He is survived by his children; daughter Becky Gilliland and husband John Gilliland of Bennett, N.C.; son Teddy Blalock and wife Pamela of Sanford, N.C.; son James Blalock of Sanford, N.C.; 4 Grandchildren, and 14 Great-Grandchildren; brothers, Ralph Blalock of Bear Creek, N.C., John Blalock and wife Katie of Bear Creek, N.C., Leroy Blalock and wife Rebecca of Bear Creek, N.C.; sisters Mary Bayles of Bear Creek, N.C., and Betty Gonzalez of Goldston, N.C.
