Mrs. Frances Blalock Oldham, 91, of Bear Creek died Friday, September 8, 2017 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at Joyce - Brady Chapel in Bennett and at other times at the home of Donna and Paul Caviness. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at High Falls Friends Church with Rev. Robert Kidd presiding. Burial will immediately follow at Pine Rest Cemetery in Robbins.
Frances was born in Chatham County, N.C. in 1926, daughter of the late George Dewey Blalock and Mary Kate Straughn Blalock. She and her late husband Herman raised poultry for many years prior to his death in 1989. Frances loved cooking and sewing and spending time with her family. She made a lot of quilts during her life for family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, a brother, a grandson, Larry Junior Blalock and a son-in-law, Curtis Smith.
She is survived by her children, Pauline Blalock of Sanford, Larry Blalock of Biscoe, Marie Smith of Carthage, Janice Cox and husband Ronnie of Bear Creek, Donna Caviness and husband Paul of Robbins Donald Oldham and wife Sandy also of Robbins, Martha Kidd and husband Eddie of Bennett; Four brothers, Ralph Blalock, John Blalock and wife Katie and Leroy Blalock and wife Rebecca all of Bear Creek, Curtis Blalock of Siler City; Two sisters, Mary Bayles of Bear Creek and Betty Gonzales of Goldston; Eight Grandchildren, David Boone, Tammy Cockman, Linda Mabe, April Richardson, Brian Brewer, Derek Diver, Ryan Oldham and Ashley Oldham; Eight Great-grandchildren, several Great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
