Mrs. Era Mae Garner Shields, age 82, of Highway 22 in Bennett, entered into the gates of Heaven on Friday April 24, 2015 at FirstHealth Hospice in Pinehurst. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Addison Garner and Lydia Ann Ritter Garner. She was preceded in death by her husband Archie Quinton Shields; Sisters-Lois Kidd, Willa Brooks, and Nora Cox; Brothers-Colon, Roland, Ed, and Carl Garner.
Mrs. Shields has been a loving, kind, and giving mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. She has been a faithful servant of the LORD, and member of Beulah Baptist Church. Mrs. Shields always had a positive spirit. She was a wonderful cook, and loved working in her flowers, and vegetable garden.
She is survived by her Daughters-Vickie S. Inguanti & husband John of Kennesaw, Ga., and Kathy S. Austin & husband Mike of Charlotte; Son-Greg Shields of Bennett; Granddaughters- Andrea I. Altman & husband Josh of Boston, Mass., and Farren I. Haygood & husband Kevin of Seattle, Washington; Brother Bud Garner & wife Tabby of Bennett; Sister-in-laws- Beatrice Hill of High Falls, and Lucy Wallace of Bennett.
The family will have a visitation service at Beulah Baptist Church in Bennett on Monday night April 27, 2015, from 6-8pm, and other times at the home. Funeral service will be at Beulah Baptist Church in Bennett on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 5pm.
