Mr. Emmett H. Cox, 86, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Woodland Hills Care and Rehabilitation Center in Asheboro.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016 at West Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Asheboro, with Rev. Frank Barrett officiating. No visitation will be held. Mr. Cox was born in Guilford County in 1929, son of the late Houston Cox and Lora Lou King. He worked as a craftsman for many years in the furniture industry and loved to go fishing and hunting any time he could. He loved the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Cox and his son, Emmett Wayne Cox and his wife of 67 years, Mary Lee Cox in 2015.
He is survived by three daughters, Cindy C. Caviness and husband Elton of Asheboro, Betty Sue Walker and husband Rogon of Seagrove and Bonnie Purvis and husband Jeff of High Falls.
Two sons, Larry Cox and wife Margie of Franklinville and Jerry Cox and wife Donna of Troy.
13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Woodland Hills Care and Rehabilitation for providing excellent care of Mr. Cox during his time of need.
