Mrs. Doshie Maness Jones, 98, of Bennett, N.C. died Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro, N.C. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Joyce – Brady Chapel in Bennett, N.C. The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Fall Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Edwin Moore and Rev. Dr. Ron Chaney presiding. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will return to the fellowship hall for food and refreshments following the committal service.
Doshie was born in Moore County, N.C. in 1920, daughter of the late John L. Maness and Lee Williams Maness. She worked in textiles and was a homemaker. Doshie loved life and people overall. Gardening vegetables and flowers was one of her many passions. Music and singing were things she enjoyed as well as fishing. Doshie grew her own “Red Wiggler” fishing worms to keep from buying those “store bought” that just didn’t seem as good. She was very active in many capacities at Fall Creek Baptist Church with the WMU, Vacation Bible School and a choir member for 60 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Gordon Jones, son Charles Jones, 5 brothers, 2 sisters and a Great-Great grandchild.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Jones Brady of Bennett; sister Mildred Jones of Bennett; Grandchildren, Anita Brady, Sharon Hussey, Tonya Miller, Marta Purvis, Nicole Coates, Aaron Jones and Lisa Cockman; Daughter-In-Law, Trudy Jones of Bennett; Fifteen Great -grandchildren, 20 Great- Great-Grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
The family wishes to thank the Chatham County Council on Aging, Liberty Home Health and Randolph Hospice House for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations made in her memory to Fall Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund 1745 Fall Creek Church Rd.
