Mrs. Dorothy Naomi Garner, 95, of Robbins, N.C., died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Autumn Care of Biscoe in Biscoe,N.C. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, January 23, from 1:00-1:45PM prior to the 2:00PM funeral service at Beulah Baptist Church with Dr. Neil Jackson and the Rev. Robert Lee Kidd presiding. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
Dorothy was born in Moore County on January 17, 1923 daughter of the late Causie and Lessie Garner. Dorothy worked in the textile industry as a winder for Klopman Mills and retired from Burlington Industries. She loved cooking, gardening, and quilting. Dorothy especially loved God and her family. She was the oldest living member of Beulah Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Colon Garner in 1997, and 3 brothers, Pete Garner, Bill Garner, and Newlan Garner. She is survived by her daughters Helen Forrest and husband Ted of Robbins, N.C., Betty Purvis and husband Larry of Carthage, N.C.; 4 grandchildren, Barry Forrest, Tommy Forrest, Angelina Bunch, and Audrey Barnhill; 9 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
