Dorothy Barber

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Barber, 93, of Carthage, N.C., died peacefully on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Tara Plantation in Carthage. A Graveside Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Cross Hill Cemetery in Carthage with Rev. Bob Yandel presiding. The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the cemetery.

Dorothy was born in Forsyth County, N.C. in 1925, daughter of the late William Gilmore Barker and Stella Davis Barker. She loved gardening, farming, and canning. She worked for Moore County Schools and the Sheriff’s Department as a cook. She was a member of Glendon Independent Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 3 sisters, son Paul Flynn Barber and daughter-in-law Dana Charlene Barber, and husband of 70 years James Laverne Barber.

She is survived by 2 sisters, 1 brother, 2 grandchildren Paul James Barber and wife Kim of Cameron, Keith Barber and wife Deanna of Carthage, 4 great grandchildren Cameron Barber and wife Linda of Cameron, Cassie Barber Frye and husband Zane of Greensboro, Brenna Barber of Greenville, Parker Barber of Carthage.
