Mr. Charles Robert Trotter, 78, of Bennett, N.C., died Monday, May 22, 2017 at Randolph Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, May 25, at the Maple Springs United Methodist Church cemetery, in Ramsuer, N.C., with Rev. Robert Downing presiding. The service will include full military honors conducted by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Charles was born in Randolph County on May 16, 1939 to parents Ervin Lee Trotter and Leona Tysinger. As a young man in the United States Army, he served one tour in Vietnam as an Artillery Mechanic. After the war, Charles worked in textiles as a Fixer for Glendale Mills. He was an active man who enjoyed his free time golfing, hunting, 4-wheeling, gardening, catching up with friends at Routh’s Grocery, spending time with his beloved family, and serving his community as a long-time member of the Tri-County Ruritan Club from which he was awarded Ruritan Of The Year.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother James Trotter, and sisters Frances Trotter Coggins and Mozelle Julian. He is survived by his loving wife Gaye Chilton Trotter of the home; children Robin Trotter Marsh of Asheboro, and Michael Reid Trotter of Bennett; two grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
