Bobby Gene Hicks

Bobby Gene Hicks, 82 , of Staley, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. The funeral will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Garner presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 pm-2:45 pm. Joyce-Brady Chapel will be open from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm on Saturday, February 25, 2023 for friends to sign the register.

Bobby was born in Chatham County on February 13, 1941 to Lewis Alfred and Hazel Hicks. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and retired from the furniture industry. He enjoyed working on tractors and restoring them. Bobby loved fishing, hunting and reading his Bible. He adored his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Mabrey Hicks and son, Mike Hicks.

He is survived by his children, Lori Hicks, of Staley, Jean Whitt, of Staley, Tara Reynolds (Allen), of Asheboro and Greg Hicks (Lisa), of Siler City; sister, Frances Ellis (Dink), of Bear Creek; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
