Mr. Billie Lee Maness, 81, of Robbins, N.C., died Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at FirstHealth Hospice in Pinehurst. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at High Falls Friends Church cemetery with Rev. Robert Kidd and Pastor Chris Wilson presiding. In the event of inclimate weather, services will be held in the church. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
Billie was born in Moore County, N.C. in 1936, son of the late Jasper Cecil Maness and Francis Lucille Mashburn Maness. He was an accomplished basketball player in high school and loved hunting and fishing. He served in the National Guard. Billie was a man of many talents working in sales, raising feeder pigs and retiring as a truck driver for Pilgrims Pride. After his retirement he sold produce, affording him the opportunity to visit with people and make friends along the way. Billie lived by the creed of "Always do people right and never wrong". He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Ester Powers.
He is survived by his sister, Lu Ann M. Kidd and husband Bill of Bennett, N.C.; Four nephews and a host of family and friends.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the High Falls Friends Church c/o Fellowship Hall Fund 1159 N.C. Hwy. 22 Bennett, N.C. 27208.
