Mrs. Barbara Imogene Gordon, 82, of Bear Creek, N.C. died Friday June 29, 2018 at The Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyce – Brady Chapel in Bennett. A Memorial Service Celebrating her life will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the Joyce – Brady Chapel with Rev. Phillip Nelson presiding.
Barbara was born in Chatham County, N.C. in 1935, daughter of the late Arthur Dewitt Phillips and Lucille Tilley White. She worked for a while at the Gold Kist Hatchery but spent most of her time as a homemaker. Barbara was a great cook and a very giving person. She loved her family and caring for her grandchildren brought much joy to her as well as them. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary Gordon.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Roger G. Gordon of the home; children Bobby E. Gordon and wife Sherry, William A. Gordon and wife Vickie and Phyllis A. Clark and husband Alan all of Bear Creek; three sisters, Joanne Johnson and husband Calvin of Silk Hope; Janette Bollinger and husband Clay of Granite Falls and Marcelle Poe and husband Steve of Siler City; six grandchildren, Jessica Kiernan, Adam Gordon(Cortney), Michael Gordon, Taylor Townsend (Dean), Dakota Gordon(Rhonda) and Casey Duckworth (Jamie); ten great-grandchildren, Julia Chandler, Christopher Chandler, Sophie Townsend, Hunner Gordon, Samuel Gordon Mallorie Gordon, Hadley Gordon, Blayklee Duckworth, Jace Duckworth, Gannon Duckworth and a host of family and friends.
In addition to flowers the family has requested donations to a charity of your choice.
